As Indian Christians, we believe that the best and perhaps the only way we can bear witness to our faith, is by extending our unconditional love to our neighbours and expecting nothing in return as Jesus Christ showed us. As such, we are against aggressive faith marketing by any religious group because such efforts discredit India's tradition of respecting all religious thought and also runs counter to the true spirit in which the Constitution grants people the right to profess, practice and propagate their faith. We are Christians. Some of us were born into Christianity others freely chose to embrace it. We also believe that the Great Commission in the Gospel according to Matthew unequivocally calls us to witness Christ in a pluralistic setting without violating the right of the other to preach, practice and profess his/her faith. Witnessing Jesus cannot in any case be done by questionable means, whether by exploiting people's socio-psychological vulnerabilities or by running down other religions. Furthermore, we believe the Christian injunction to make disciples of all nations in today's context is best honoured by the bearers of the Good News living exemplary Christian lives and showing respect for the nation's commitment to pluralism, for the larger public good in a civil society. Conversion of faith, given its life-changing nature, stems from a considered personal experience and is less likely in this day and age to be the stuff of dramatic immediacy. When India's Supreme Court ruled, in 1977, that a citizen's right to "profess, practice and propagate" one's religion does not include the right to convert another it was merely reaffirming both tradition and the Constitution. We believe that every nation should give primacy to maintenance of public order by ensuring safety and security to the life and property of its citizens. India's all-encompassing culture and secular Constitution allows not only its citizens but also visitors the freedom of religious practice. But, Article 25 of the Constitution which guarantees that right also subjects it to the maintenance of "public order, morality and health" of the citizenry. We therefore call on the Government of India and all secular countries to seek an amendment to Article 18 of the UN Declaration of Human Rights by expanding it through the addition of a second sentence (capitalised):"Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance. HOWEVER, NO INDIVIDUAL OR ORGANISATION MAY SEEK TO CONVERT AN INDIVIDUAL OR A GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS, INCLUDING MINORS OR INDIVIDUALS OF LIMITED COGNITIVE ABILITIES, FORMALLY OR INFORMALLY, FROM ONE RELIGION TO ANOTHER BY OFFERING FINANCIAL OR OTHER MATERIAL INCENTIVES; THROUGH PHYSICAL, MENTAL, OR EMOTIONAL COERCION; OR THROUGH THREATS OR INTIMIDATION OF ANY KIND." While we decry the attempts of religious leaders and fundamentalists of all varieties to convert and re-convert, we pledge to work diligently for inter-faith amity in the best traditions of Indian culture. We hereby call on all Indians to join in our efforts to preserve a pluralist India founded on secularism and religious inclusion and governed by a Constitution that guarantees all its citizens all freedoms vital to the functioning of a modern democracy. As long as you do not repudiate this ideal running central in Christianity (which actually you can't, for that would be repudiating Christianity), I would continue to see you as a wolf trying to steal others sheep, though now in the cloak of a sheep called BIRD!

Conversion through missionary work should stopAll kind of conversion through any campaign through word or deed should be stoped. There is an inherent danger in it. If you want to covert somebody, you need to necessarily say that your religion is better than other religions. Here ends the equality of religions in a secular set up. All religions are equal. Anybody can profess any religion. But nobody should induce by any means to convert. Missionary and other such concerted efforts at conversion should be stopped. It is against the spirit of secularism.

Any tampering with others' faith tantamounts to stealing the neighbour's food. It is a good sign that Christians are coming forth more and more on this burning issue creating so much anger among Hindus all these centuries. I hope you will take up the matter also with your Western counterparts who have been contributing without realising the questionable and unacceptable means employed here in India with all that money. This is creating less and less sympathy for the West's problems among majority of Hindus.

RSS Sarkaryawah Sri Mohanrao Bhagwat ji's Statement on Kannur

16/03/2008 16:37:20 Statement issued by the Sarkaryavah - Sri Mohanrao Bhagwat on the violence in Kannur Five RSS activists have been killed and scores grievously injured in renewed attacks by the CPM cadres since 5 March 2008 in the North Kerala district of Kannur. Houses of more than 40 Swayamsevaks have been destroyed in this violence. It is claimed that the Communist Party of Kerala was formed in Pinarayi in Kannur district and the Party considers this district as its bastion. The RSS work was started in 1943 in this district and continued peacefully for more than 25 years. Many CPM workers were attracted to the RSS work and joined in large numbers. However, unable to tolerate its growing strength the CPM resorted to murder politics since 1969. Sri Ramakrishnan, a daily wage earner and the Mukhyashikshak of Thalassery (Vadikkal) who faced the Communist terrorism courageously and started several Shakas in and around Thalassery, became their first victim and was brutally killed in 1969. Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan, present State Secretary of CPM who hails from this district, was one of the main accused in that murder case. The present Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, who also hails from this district, was an accused in the murder of another Swayamsevak Sri Karimbil Satheesan. So far more than 60 Swayamsevaks have been killed by the CPM in this district alone. Even aged women were also not spared. On May 22, 2002 Smt. Ammu Amma (72 years) was killed in a bomb attack by CPI (M) workers while she was returning in a jeep after attending the funeral of a Swayamsevak Sri Uthaman, who was killed in the CPI (M) attack the previous day. Peace EffortsThe RSS had all alongwelcomed and supported all peace efforts. In order to avoid further violence, the founder of the BMS, Sri Dattopant Thengidi and Sri P. Parameswaran, the the Director of Deendayal Research Institute, Delhi had discussions with Communist stalwarts like EMS Namboodripad and Ramamurthy in Delhi. The leaders of the RSS and the CPM had similar discussions in Kerala too. But before the ink on the peace declaration dried up, there were unprovoked attacks on RSS cadres. Committed to maintaining peace the RSS had agreed to sit with the CPM leaders again and sign a document for peace in 1999 at the initiative of the highly respected Js. Krishna Iyer and the then Chief Minister E.K. Nayanar. However, just two days after this initiative the CPM cadres attacked the State Vice President of BJYM Sri Jayakrishnan Master and murdered him in a most gruesome manner in front of small children in his class room. Peace conferences became totally ineffective with no positive result whatsoever.But for several years, despite serious provocation the RSS stuck to its commitment of maintaining peace and never retaliated. However it resulted in loosing a number of good activists only while the CPM became more brutal. Whenever they are in power in the State their brutality crosses all limits with the help of obliging Government machinery.The latest killing spree that started in March claimed the lives of 5 Swayamsevaks so far. On March 5 (Sivarathri day) Sri Sumesh, Thalassery Taluk Sharirik Shikshan Pramukh was attacked near Thalassery town. He lost his left hand and is still in Intensive Care Unit. Sri Sumesh always used to represent Sangh in the peace conferences. On the same day a Swayamsevak Nikhil (22), a lorry driver and the sole bread winner of a poor family was killed. Another Swayamsevak, Sri Sathyan, a mason, was virtually dragged away from his work place and beheaded. His headless body was thrown by the wayside near his house. On the very next day i.e. on March 6, 2008 Sri Mahesh of Kuthuparamba was hacked to death. His head was also severed off. Again on the next day i.e, March 7, 2008 Sri Suresh Babu of Kodiyeri and Sri K.V.Surendran (65) of Illathuthazha were brutally assassinated. Thus within 3 days 5 young lives belonging to the working class were taken away. More than a dozen youths have been maimed and become handicapped.Honest Officers not toleratedHonest Police officers were never tolerated. On Jan 12, 2008, one CPM worker Sri Dhanesh was killed by some unknown miscreants. The CPM accused the RSS, but the DySP in charge of the investigation Sri Habeeb Rahman categorically stated that RSS was not at all involved in this murder. Immediately afterwards that upright officer was transferred from the district. On Jan 26, 2008, one notorious criminal Jijesh was killed. His nickname 'Veerappan' itself reveals his nature. Again CPM blamed Sangh. In both the cases the RSS district leadership had promptly rebutted the charges in press conferences. DSP Sri Manoj Abraham after investigation stated that NDF (a Muslim extremist organization) was involved in it and RSS was innocent. Again that no-nonsense officer was also transferred summarily. Shakha Ban in KannurThere is a virtual ban on Sangh shakhas by the CPM in the areas of their dominance in Kannur. The basic right to conduct organization work is being denied not only to the RSS but to all other political parties including Congress and CPI. Examples are so many. The shakha at Engayilpeedika at Kodiyeri, the home-town of State Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, was attacked and disallowed to function by Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's nephew and his henchmen 8 years ago. Since then repeated attempts to restart the shakha there have been foiled by the CPM cadres. The CPM is also enforcing a code- a kind of Section 144 - applicable to swayamsevaks in that village. If they want to live there they should not meet or even sit together. They should walk around or travel alone. They should not be seen in public when the home minister visits the area. The fate of the shakha at Kodiyeri is not an isolated one. There are up to 50 places in Kannur where the Sangh is not allowed to hold shakhas. Any attempt to 'violate' this ban would be met with brutal force. KPCC president Ramesh Chennitahla during the last elections had brought out a report in which he cited that in 265 booths in Kannur district no party agent except that of the CPM was allowed to sit.It is noteworthy that the judiciary has, on several occasions, reprimanded the State Police for not preventing such human rights abuses by the CPM cadres in Kannur. Particularly scathing were the observations of the High Court a couple of days ago, which openly said that only the presence of Central Forces can restore normalcy in the region.It is to highlight these acts of Stalinism and fascism of the CPM that some members of the RSS and other organisations including a large number of women spontaneously marched in a peaceful manner to the CPM HQ in Delhi. Betraying their Nandigram-style intolerance the CPM cadres repeated what they have been doing in Kannur – attacked the peaceful demonstrators with brickbats and chairs – resulting in unfortunate violence on the Delhi streets.I appeal to all the right-thinking and peace-loving citizens of the country to raise their voice against this fascist and Stalinist face of the CPM in the larger interest of our democracy and freedom. I call upon the RSS Swayamsevaks allover the country to stand by our Swayamsevak brethren who have become victims of the brutalities of the CPM and expose the true nature and face of it which has no place in a country with such a hoary tradition of tolerance and pluralistic ethic.As far as the RSS in Kerala is concerned, it would zealously guard its Constitutional right of freedom of expression, association and propagation.( Yogesh Bapat )Secretary to Sarkaryavah

Shakha-centered Sangha ParivarThe Marxists know that the true strength of the RSS comes from its shakhas. That is why it prevents shakhas from being held. It has been the Marxist tradition to threaten newcomers from attending shakhas, killing its members who become swayamsevaks (it could be that the majority of swayamsevaks killed by the Marxists were one time Marxists. Why, I know of cases where they even bribed newcommers with jobs to dissuade them from attending shakhas. We swayamsevaks also should be sure that shakha is the most important activity in our lives and we must attend shakhas religiously. If you are unable to participate in the sharirik in shakas, simply watch the shakha. Your presence will contribute to strengthening of the shakha. Shakha is the answer to all our problems. Marxist goondaism will become of no consequence when we build up strong shakhas in every ward in Kerala. Let us direct everything towards and through the shakha. Let not just Sangha but all of Sangha Parivar also be shakha-centered.

Usually if flying by Commercial flights only 20 kg of checked-in luggage and seven kg of hand baggage are allowed, But those going with Haj Subsidy under Govt. of India are getting an added benefit of 45 kg of checked-in luggage and 10 kgs as hand baggage free of cost.Even after this added allowance on baggage they still want the Government to pay for their excess baggage!

The undying sense of want.

A religion, if it is to have the intended effect on one, should transform one into a spiritual person, meaning, one should be progressively detached from things material. While Islam might not even qualify as a religion because it does not seem to have as its aim the idea of man transforming into a spiritual being, with its aim actually being only to make the individual a die hard slave of Allah, the case is not the same in Hinduism. Hinduism is nothing if its aim is not spiritual. Therefore I've always wondered why, for instance, any individual should need for than one tin of aravana payasam? Unabating greed seems to manifest when Ayyappas desire to take home as many as 10 tins or more. “For the others who have not made the pilgrimage”, one might say. I am not arguing on this, for reasons can always be aplenty. But the point is, much thoughts of ‘wanting’ seem to float at temple darshans when pilgrimages should actually reduce our sense of want.

Advani is Swami Vivekananda's and Guruji's Man with a capital M. Character is best measured when the going is bad. When the going is good everybody shines. The whole Jinnah controversy arose because we reacted to twisted newspaper reports about Advani's comments without waiting for Advani to clarify. To have called him a traitor was the most unkindest cut of all. And finally we got him to relinquish his post. But he bore it all because he has a faith in Sangha that we would be unable to measure. Never once did he criticize Sangha while all the time standing by what he said. Truly, a man with the courage of his convictions. I wish also to say that we have much to learn from Vajpayeeji. He is an Ajatashatru par excellence. Truly a man with abundance of Susheelam, as taught in our Prarthana. Further, even as PM many times he declared that he is a swayamsevak first and foremost. Let us, therefore, under their able leadership, give all support to BJP so that it can come to power in the Centre and put the nationalistic course of our nation back on track.

I would like to state that initially I was also offended like other Hindus with Sri Advani,not for saying that Jinnah was secular, but because he did not care to explain his statement to the people.Actually there was nothing wrong in what Sri Advani said. The fact is that Jinnah having been a non-practising muslim, was not a staunch muslim/islamist. Having been in the freedom struggle long before Nehru appeared on the scene, he nursed the ambition of becoming the PM of India. But his hopes were dashed when Gandhiji supported Nehru to be the PM of India. He had stated till then that India should be a secular state- " you follow your religion and I'll follow mine. TheState shall not interfere in the religious affairs of the people."This is what Jinnah had said. Does not that qualify him to be asecularist? The leaders of free India have distorted secularism tosuch an extent that today they are brazenly practising anti-Hinduism.Anyway,why then did Jinnah become a hardliner?When it was clear to him that he stood no chance of becoming the PM of free India, he advocated partition of India and wanted a separate state for the muslims. He died of cancer the very next year. But the fact remains that he had advocated secularism. So, what Sri Advani had said is true. Mr. L K Advani born in Karachi on 8th Nov 1927 is considered as a strong advocacy of Hindutva and has brought about a sea change in the country in 90’s by Shri. Ram Mandir movement. But unfortunately it was not the same Advani that we saw in June 2005 when he made his visit to Pakistan where he praised Muhammad Ali Jinnah while visiting his mausoleum in Karachi by saying "Jinnah's August 1947 vision was secular" and his comments after that about RSS and Sangh Parivar. The present need of BJP and our nation is the Advani whom we saw in 90’s and not a Secular Advani who make’s his statements which is only to hold the power and to make a self image. So we request Mr. Lal Krishna Advani, Mr. Rajnath Singh and the BJP as a whole to be a Hindutva party and come up with the same election agenda of 90’s. Though the exit polls shows Modi may loose 10-15 seats as compared to last election its almost certain BJP would easily capture the power in the state. The overall projection of Star News is 115 seats for the BJP, 64 for Congress and 3 for others.In South Gujarat, BJP maintain their 2002 poll tally winning 14, the exit poll said.

Kick out the failed swayamsevaks

If BJP is defeated, it would have been only because of rebels. In this context we have to take Advani as a model. Though after his Pakistan trip he was criticized and removed from his post, he bore everything patiently because he never lost faith in Sangha. This is the hallmark of a true swayamsevak. But look at Keshubhai Patel. To defeat one man he goes against the whole party. If he was so sore with Narendra Modi he could have contested against him. But a coward that he is, he did not do it. Instead he played upon his caste constituency. As a swayamsevak he should never have nurtured a caste constituency. Let us identify failed swayamsevaks and kick them out from the party.

Day by day, the condition of Sabarimala pilgrimage is dilapidating due to the irresponsibility and inefficiency of Devaswom Ministry and its Devaswom Board. Governor should immediately intervene and take necessary action to restore proper management in Sabarimala, Demanded Hindu Aikya Vedi General Secretary Kummanam Rajasekharan.As Kerala Government and Devaswom board proved to be an utter failure, Governor should seek Army’s help in crisis management. Crowd Management specialist of Military services should be called in as day by day the number of Devotees coming for holy pilgrimage is increasing.It is for the first time such an inefficient management was seen in Sabarimala. Thousands of devotees returned back without Darsan is first time in the History. Water Scarcity and lack of sanitation facilities forces extra burden on the devotees. Devaswom Minister never bothered to visit the Temple and tried to understand the crisis in Sabarimala. The Devaswom president is making irresponsible statements and justifying his faults without any concern for the Devotees problems. Board members should resign and apologize to the devotees owing responsibility for the grave mismanagement.

Declare Sabarimala a semi-autonomous and holy region

I think the inevitable has happened. Insincere people have got on to the management team at Sabarimala, appointed by greedy politicians with an eye on easy money. Worse, many are actually anti-Hindu and wish to tarnish the image of Sabarimala.The only long term solution is to demand from the Central Government release of large tracts of forest lands and build massive infrastructures with toilet facilities, round the clock water, subsidized food and stay facilities. Also, the entire area surrounding Sannidhanam should be divided into sectors and it must be announced that devotees would be released into Sannidhanam area from the main gates of these sectors only at particular times. This way devotees would know at which sector to queue up for darshan according to timings of their convenience. Indeed, the whole area of Sabarimala must be declared a semi-autonomous and holy region. Tantris must also consider whether new temples can be consecrated on the 18 hills of the Poongavanam so that Sabarimala would be a round-theyear pilgrimage centre for all devotees.

In CNN-IBN’s News on Gujarat Election analysis, He made this comment. . It’s a clear insult not only Gujarati women but also to Bharatheeya culture and whole womanhood.Rajdeep Sardesai who born in Gujrat itself must have coined this remark based on the nature of women in his family. Will he dare to make such a comment about the victory of Sonia Maino in Rae Bareilly similar to this? Does he feel that people watch the programs of his wife Sagarika Ghosh due to her sex appeal?Recently a group of Jihadi’s in Kozhikode , Kerala gave him an award for his Anti Hindu stands taken on various issues.

Rajdeep, don't be a clone of Western valuesSex-appeal is common parlance when talking about famous personalities in the West. Rajdeep's comments may have been apt for CNN's American audience. But he ought to remember that IBN is the Indian avataar of CNN and he ought to be sensitive to cultural values here. Further, associating sex-appeal to a person who is basically a Sangha pracharak is mischievous. Rajdeep’s audience may be English speaking but they may not be necessarily sold out to Western cultural values.
