RSS aims for service-oriented projects in Thalassery

The RSS leadership is aiming for more service-oriented programmes in the district and to involve the families of those who were maimed by the CPI(M) ever since 1969 when the local RSS leader Vadikkal Ramakrishnan was assassinated by a group of CPI(M) workers. The RSS leadership has chalked out several projects which would be of use to the local people and the families of those who were killed and injured for life. The local leaders of the Sangh while speaking to The Pioneer said that the organisation is active in several areas but is planning some major service-oriented programmes including some key projects in association with certain groups who have established their names nationally and internationally. The Sangh leaders, however, refused to divulge the contents of the programmes but said that the planning is not complete and that this could usher in positive developments in the area which would be beneficial to the society as such and not to a few persons or people who are toeing any particular ideology.Highly-placed sources in the organisation confirmed The Pioneer that the Sangh is also planning to conduct a series of lecture programmes in the area highlighting the backwardness of the district and Thalassery and Panoor areas in particular and to dwell upon the people that the root cause of these lack of development in the area is the wise like grip of the CPI(M) in the area. The organisation also wants to prove that even after Thalassery has been returning the CPI(M) leaders from the Thalassery Assembly seat, the area is totally underdeveloped. The only development which the CPI(M) could highlight is the Rubco which is striving only owing to the generous support it receives from the successive Governments from the co-operative sector. The major allegation is that the Rubco is providing jobs to the CPI(M) cadre and that the party is trying to convert the areas where it is located into major party bastions. The RSS leadership is planning to involve all sections of the general public and when asked a senior functionary of the organisation while speaking to The Pioneer said "We want these projects to be beneficial to the people of the area and not for any particular section".The lecture series is planning to bring to the fore the failures of the successive Governments in bringing up development to the area and the failure to capitalise upon the rich tradition the area had previously. The general public is also upset at the total derogation of the Thalassery town which was once considered as the cultural capital of the area with the rich tradition in culture, sports and academics.A senior leader of the Sangh said, "A general student of history can very well understand that the polticisation of the society by the CPI(M) is the major reason for the total degeneration of the town. It should be noted that the advent of certain leaders from the CPI(M) into the mainstream politics of the State from this town has resulted in the present predicament of the area".Local people cutting across political affiliations also rue at the situation of the town which was once considered the cradle of culture of the State and the people also are angry at the so-called cultural and social leaders of the town who are acting as the agents of the CPI(M).

Our core competency

My humble (and uncalled for) opinion is that Sangha should concentrate on Shakhas. Why should we associate with "certain groups who have established their names nationally and internationally"? Sangha is the only organisation which knows how to run shakhas. Shakhas are no small matter. It is the force which has strengthened nationalism in our country. There is no end to what swayamsevaks can do - from politics to business. But who is going to create the swayamsevaks? Who is going to ensure that the swayamsevaks are always surcharged with Desh Bhakti? Let Sangha concentrate on its core competency of Shakhas. Let us create swayamsevaks to serve Bharath Mata and Hindutva. We don't have to appease the populace with financial projects, the fate of which would invariably slip through our hands.
