KOLKATA: A Muslim from West Bengal married his teenage daughter on grounds that he was following Allah’s will! Afazuddin Ali, 36, married his daughter. She is now 6 month pregnant.

While on the subject of incest, let me also point out that incestuous marriages were widespread in ancient Egyptian history, which included the Pharaohs (Egyptian Kings) marrying their daughters. The fable of Oedipus was about incest between mother and son, though inadvertent. In the Bible, Lot's two daughters have sex with him to carry on their lineage when they believe that all humanity but them has been destroyed. Of course, Adam and Eve would not have got their grandchildren without incest among or with their children. Mohammad himself got his son (adopted) to divorce his wife so that he could marry her. I suppose this chap from Bengal would quote Mohammad’s action to justify his own. My personal opinion on this incident is that if the persons directly concerned (father, mother and daughter, in this case) have no problems, society should leave them alone, as they do not pose a threat to society.

What's even more galling is that his wife was the prime witness in the nikah of her daughter to her husband. Afazuddin Ali's wedding happened quietly and understandably without fanfare, so none in Kasiajhora village of Jalpaiguri district knew. But now, six months later, as the girl showed signs of pregnancy, eyebrows were raised, tongues started wagging and word finally got out. Outrage and anger swept across the village and there was even talk of attacking the family. Sensing that things could quickly get out of control, cops from the Banerhat police station rushed in and arrested Ali, his wife Sakina and their 15-year-old daughter. The three were taken to an SDO's court on Monday but the hapless magistrate had to release them because he had no criminal jurisdiction; there was no complainant and police strangely did not bring a case of statutory rape against Ali. "Police has not lodged any specific case and the court does not have jurisdiction over criminal cases. So they were released unconditionally," said the SDO, Atanu Kumar Ray.

The fact is that still a large number of Muslims in subcontenent are not ready to give up the pagan era practices. That’s why people like Santosh Madavan are flourishing among Muslim community too. What this Afaazuddin Ali in West Bengal said after the reported marriage with his daughter is derived from the superstition exists in his surroundings. People who say that Allah’s will or enlightment in dream, miracle in his position, extra ordinary power, etc. are part of superstition as well as sign of mentally distorted people. The similar incident was reported even in Kerala recently when people start to suspect the so-called God men once Santosh Madhvan issue became known, in which the culprit was also a Muslim. As it is, my Hindu neighbor, at his 54 is a mason, incubated a child in the womb of his school going 12 years old daughter five years back. Fortunately, he did not say that it was God’s will but threatened her that if the illegitimate relationship is revealed she will know the consequences. There are so many such incidents, taking place in all the communities, which are not reported or get media attention as required. Mixing such issue is not befitting to a man like Mr. Venu having vast knowledge in Hinduism.
But, here the thamasa is the comment of Mr. Venu that Afazuddin must have got inspiration from Mohammed (Prophet Mohammed - PBUH). Having read this comment I began to feel that Mr. Venu is also one amongst who misguide the fellow his Hindu brothers with baseless allegations and misinformation. Nevertheless, I still believe that Mr. Venu is a man of principle and leading a pure life of Hindu. In fact, the comment of Venu with regards to the above Afaazudhin in West Bengal prompted me to review all the postings Venu made in the forum, and some of them are found very interesting and informative while other comments are well enough to give disgust as well. I do not know whether Mr. Venu is doing this deliberately as part of the duty entrusted.
Dear Venu, apart from Quran, sayings and deeds of Prophet Mohammed is also important for every Muslims. One of his sayings is that children (boys) crossed 12 years shall not be allowed to sleep even with his mother. Being mother, giving this kind of freedom to boys may lead to unprecedented consequences later - evil thoughts could be happen and comes to mind any time to anybody. That’s why Prophet Mohammed instructed the mankind to be aware and cautious. So, from where Mr. Venu got such information that this illiterate Muslim by name in West Bengal got inspiration from Mohammed (PBUH) to accept his daughter being wife. We know very well that West Bengal is also one of the cradles of superstitions and all the inhuman and strange practices though the so-called progressive ‘left parties’ govern the state for the last three decades.
In fact, Mr. Venu did not go much deep that’s why he unknowingly mentioned that the practices of incestuous marriages during the period of pharaohs of Egypt was common. In fact, though Egypt is now a country of Muslim dominance, Venu forgot that Pharaohs were idol worshippers and all the strange practices were existing among them in the respective era. Despite, Prophet Moses carried out his mission to lead them to right path or tawheed, the well-known king of Pharaoh Clan and his henchmen stood stubborn and died in red sea in an encounter with Moses and his handful followers.
I still wonder why majority of the members in this forum abuse and use foul language. In fact, man learnt or have knowledge in Bag-vat Gita cannot abuse anybody. The reason may be that majority of the Hindu brothers are not getting religious teachings as of their counter parts ‘Muslims’ from Madrasa and religious institutions.
