Thiruvananthapuram: Bharathiya Vicharakendram will be organising Saraswathi Pooja on 19th this month. Ceremonies will be held according to Hindu tradition. Vicharakendram is one among few organisations to hold ‘vidhyarambam’ festival according to Hindu scriptures every year in Kerala.

This year they are introducing an innovative idea of computer awareness to new generation on this auspicious occasion. Modern means of education will be effectively incorporated with our age old tradition.

Bharathiya Vicharakendram Director P. Parameswaran, Sanskrit University Ex- Dean and current ‘Mukhyacharya’ (Main lecturer) of Shivagiri Bhrahma Vidhyapedam Porf. Vasudevan Potti, Prof. Sulochana Nair and Q SAT Prof. in Mangement studies Prof. Dr. C.V Jayamani will be ‘Mukhyacharyas’ for Vidhyarambam ceremony.

Computer awareness will anyway be picked up by present day students. I am surprised that Vidhyarambam would find, maybe, children facing computer screens with probably writing of AUM on paintbrush programme or something like that. I think it would be an innovation of greater consequence if Vidhyarambam becomes the occasion to introduce a child to the Gayatri Mantra. The child then can be taught to daily recite it before he proceeds to celebrate the discovery of the world.
